Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the campsite located?

The location is quiet and sunny, surrounded by apple orchards and an impressive mountain backdrop at the foot of the hiking area Hirzer, which is accessible by a cable car (2000m). The campsite is located by the river (Passer) and a bike path runs directly past the campsite to Meran (9km) and St. Leonhard (10km).

How do I reach Camping Passeier?

Arrival at Camping Passeier

By car: From Meran (coming from Reschenpass or Brennerpass via Bozen), follow State Road SS44 into the Passeier valley towards the Jaufenpass. The exit to Saltaus is about 9 km away from Meran. The campsite is located directly behind the entrance to Saltaus, below the Hirzer cable car.

From Sterzing (coming from Brennerpass), drive on the SS44 over the Jaufenpass to Saltaus in the Passeier Valley. The Jaufenpass is open all year but can be closed due to weather or at night. (Driving ban for vehicles with trailers over 4.5 meters).

Alternatively, during the summer months, you can reach us via the Timmelsjoch (High Alpine Road), which directly connects the Ötztal Valley with the Passeier Valley. The Timmelsjoch is usually open to traffic from late May/early June until October. Please note the nighttime driving ban as well as possible short-term closures during bad weather. (Prohibited: all vehicles with trailers exceeding 4.50 meters in length).

We recommend driving over the mountain passes only with smaller motorhomes and would like to point out that the road is very narrow in some sections.
